SPEAKER
Mercado Libre is the largest marketplace in Latin America. In 2019, 379 million items were sold, which represented +13.2% from the prior year. The Gross Merchandise Value was of 14 billion USD, +11.9% vs. the previous year.
The marketplace giant is also increasingly becoming a key part of many brands and retailers’ ecommerce strategy. In Latin America, 47% of online shoppers buy on Mercado Libre and this number is set to continue growing beyond LatAm in the future.
However, the global growth of online counterfeiting means that collaboration with marketplaces and Brand Protection professionals is paramount to prevent brand erosion and revenue loss on the platform.
